In this emergency phase related to the spread of Coronavirus in Italy, there is increasing talk of "sanitization" of systems, but often in an improper way, even in regulations. This is supported by CNA installation systems, which has issued a press release to clarify this concept. To confirm this thesis, the association cites the issuance of some regional ordinances, for example Tuscany and Abruzzo, in which the "sanitization of grilles, vents, and air filters, by washing, disinfection/sterilization or by replacement" is improperly ordered.
In the ordinances in question – explains the note – as well as in other provisions, there is a misinterpretation of the concept of "sanitization" which in Article 1 of Ministerial Decree No. 274/1997 is defined as follows: "sanitization activities are those concerning the set of procedures and operations aimed at making certain environments healthy through cleaning and/or disinfection and/or pest control activities, or through the control and improvement of microclimate conditions regarding temperature, humidity, and ventilation, or regarding lighting and noise".
Sanitization, therefore – CNA continues – concerns a "set of procedures and operations aimed at making certain environments healthy", and therefore applies to environments and not to systems or parts of them, and can be carried out by companies that must necessarily have specific economic-financial capacity requirements and must obligatorily have a Technical Manager who must have a direct relationship with the company and possess specific technical-organizational requirements established by Article 2 of Ministerial Decree 274/97.
