Differences between mouse and rat
To begin with, we must be clear that the rat and the mouse are not of the same species. The rat belongs to the Rattus genus which includes up to 57 different species such as Rattus rattus or Rattus norvegicus. The mouse, on the other hand, belongs to the genus Mus and we find about 38 very different species, including the Mus musculus, known as the "house mouse". Physically and in general we can distinguish a mouse from a rat by its size: rats can measure up to almost 40 centimeters while the mouse is smaller, its dimensions vary from 3 to 10 cm (although some can reach 15).
